Back in July, my friend Melissa posted the blog post “Martha Stewart” describing how she had made a custom dog collar for her pit bull, Honey. I was completely impressed with my friend’s creativity and the finished product, inquiring if she would teach me how to make a custom collar for CB.

So, Melissa and I got together, hit up the leather store to buy the leather, stain and jewelry, then crafted away while drinking beers at her house.

I really loved the deep purple stain on Honey’s collar and went with this for CB’s, adding in some large green bling and silver rivets. I absolutely love it! Picture by Melissa.

We also bought supplies for leashes, but ran out of time that evening. So far I have stained the leash deep purple, but still need to add in the jewels.

Woof! SLC: Full Service Pet Care

My friend Melissa Lipani (often referenced on my blog as Lil’ Chicka) has started her own full service pet care business, Woof! SLC, where she offers services ranging from Walks, Pet Sitting, Pet Taxi, Bathing, Yard Cleanup, etc. within the Sugarhouse (and surrounding 5 miles) area.

Melissa has three pit bulls of her own, one of which she has nurtured back to good health from his battle with an auto-immune disease. She contributes numerous hours of volunteer work with No More Homeless Pets and Best Friends, being a constant representative for animal rights and adoptions. Best Friends Animal Society

Thanks to Lil’ Chicka’s blog, I have been enlighted to the Best Friends Animal Society. The Best Friend’s Animal Society is based in Kanab, Utah and is literally a sanctuary to animals, housing such animals as dogs, cats, horses, birds, pigs, etc. BF is actively involved in saving animals from disaster areas such as Hurricane Katrina and war zones and currently has an adoption rate of 75%. For those animals that are unadoptable or have high needs, they are guaranteed a safe haven for the rest of their lives.

If looking to adopt an animal or have the means to sponsor an animal, please consider going through the Best Friends Animal Society.

My Beauty, The Free Spirit

Shaft bought me the nicest gift, The Free Spirit. She is a beautiful cruiser, previously owned (my favorite type of gift), purchased from craigslist, a little rusty, only has one gear but now (thanks to Shaft) fashions a basket, bell and kickstand. I love her.

Whew. Pure beauty! I was so thrilled upon receiving her as it was completely unexpected and exactly what I had been looking for on craigslist.

Ever since I received this beauty, Shaft and I have cruised to the our local coffee shop on the weekends. CB typically trots alongside, but I have started to train her to actually lay in the basket (with a little mesh covering protecting her) in prep for the longer ride to the downtown Farmer’s Market (which starts in a couple weeks). Yeah, we somewhat resemble the Wizard of Oz..

The CbGbers and I are looking for a new home, but for some reason very few places allow pets, even the cute little CbGbers. Perhaps it would help if I simply explained her good quatlities…

1) She is as small as a rat

2) Her advanced ears can hear anything moving in the house

3) Her lil’ poops can hardly be seen, looking very similar to an aerated lawn

4) She keeps her paws very clean, licking constantly

5) She can be fierce when provoked

6) She allows you to put your fingers in her mouth when she yawns, acting like it is a perfectly normal event

7) She constantly sits on a heat pad in front of a heater

8 ) She came WITH a sweater, similar to a Barbie coming with an outfit

9) She only chews up chapstick lids and occasional pencils (well… and she occasionally stretches out my bras)

10) She doesn’t drive angry

Can she plz has a home? Kthxbye!

Ok…. so crag baby (the dog) is having a hard time figuring out the litter box. For some reason she only does #2 in it and then pees on my carpet. I’m starting to get a little pissed off.

Crag Baby is actually the new name for my dog (long story). Her name has always been CB, but was the initials for the words Coffee Bean. My dog is a chihuahua that has frequented many climbing spots and I didn’t really think the name Coffee Bean was that cute. So, I just got up and switched her name. She is still CB, but the words Crag Baby fits her lots better.

This blog is not going to be about my dog, actually more about mine (or I guess also her) adventures in climbing. I just thought the title Crag Baby might be a fun one.
